The Company: CropPro Consulting is an independent consulting company that began in 2003 and is based out of Naicam, SK. Our core business is comprised of two main areas: SWAT MAPS Variable Rate Services & Crop Scouting Services.

SWAT MAPS is primarily a variable-rate mapping service for farmers using soil, water and topography attributes to create zone maps. Our zoning procedure is a patented process. The service includes soil sampling, fertilizer recommendations by zone, overall farm fertility planning, VR checks and client contact. 

Crop Scouting is our crop consulting service package for farmers that provides weed, disease, and insect scouting all season long with pesticide recommendations, agronomic advice, and crop plans. The service is provided to full-farm clients only.

The Position: We are currently seeking an individual for the 8 month contract position of Precision Agronomist in Quill lake- Naicam - Watson SK.  This person will work from a home office and service farm clients generally within a 50 km radius of Quill Lake and Naicam, but travel to other areas may be required at times.

• Position starting date is flexible, but May 1st is preferred. Contract ends in December, but opportunity for full-time employment may be given to right candidate

Requirements:

• 1-3 years of agronomy experience an asset. Farm experience an asset.
• A post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in agriculture or related field.
• Driver’s license required and abstract may be requested.
• High level of integrity and commitment to providing unrivaled service and support.
• Strong level of independence as you will be working in remote areas on your own.
• Must be willing to work overtime during peak seasons.
• Must be willing to contribute to market development and business growth efforts in the region.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer skills.

Responsibilities: Join our crop scouting team and consult for clients in the area who are signed up for this service. 
Tasks will include:

• Weed identification, insect and disease monitoring, agronomic troubleshooting, crop protection recommendations and spray timing.
• Make verbal and written recommendations for seed, fertilizer and pesticide applications.
• Ground-truth newly mapped fields and soil sample all fields by 5 zones using SWAT MAPS.
• nterpret soil test results and deliver actionable advice for soil fertility management.
• Perform VR assessments after seeding and before harvest to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of VR prescriptions.
• Communicate with farm clients over the phone, email, and using CropRecords farm data management software.
• Consult with prospective SWAT MAPS clients; support the sales team in acquiring new acres in the area.

The successful candidate will work from a home office and a truck, computer and all equipment required will be supplied. CropPro Consulting offers a competitive salary with annual bonus incentive and growth opportunities.
The position has flextime hours which is generally 30 hour weeks through winter and part of summer.
