There have been regular requests for forensic agrologists with experience as independent, third-party contractors in a range of agricultural, bioresources, food and environmental sectors. However, the practice of Forensic Agrology is a growing scope of practice and requires specific skills experience and training to be recognized by SIA. SIA has an online database of members that have met the requirements to practice forensic agrology and been approved by the Admissions & Registration Committee.

The requirements include:

• Complete the SIA Forensic Agrology  
  – Module One – Fundamentals of Investigation
  – Module Two – Report Writing and Case Studies
• Related training in investigation such as crop scouting, environmental hazard assessments, animal welfare and trauma, financial/debt review food safety, arbitration/mediation and other investigative skills.
• At least ten years of relevant forensic experience in each area of forensic practice
• A detailed resume of profession practice, forensic experience and formal training in forensic skills.
• Being a member “in good-standing” with the institute.
