If you haven’t toured the Canadian Light Source, it’s a must see – and it’s open for public tours!
The CLS is the only synchrotron in Canada and one of the largest scientific infrastructure investments in our country’s history – and it’s right here in Saskatoon!
What is a synchrotron?
”A synchrotron light source produces extremely bright light by using powerful magnets and radio frequency waves to accelerate electrons to nearly the speed of light. This infra-red, ultraviolet and X-ray light is shone down beamlines to experimental stations where scientists can select different parts of the spectrum to “see” the microscopic nature of matter, right down to the level of the atom.” LEARN MORE
