Wolf Willow Control @ Saskatoon Natural Grasslands (4:30 – 6:30 PM)
Meeting @ Saskatoon Natural Grasslands
Meeting Point
Meet Katie, our Volunteer Coordinator, on Konihowski Rd. Here’s a link to a map of our meeting point.
About this event
We will be removing some Wolf Willow from the Saskatoon Natural Grasslands to manage shrub encroachment and begin restoring the area back to its natural grassland state. Join us in this effort to support prairie restoration. We’ll be using pruning loppers and handsaws, so please wear long pants (jeans or synthetic fabrics are recommended) and avoid loose clothing. Your time and effort will make a lasting impact on the health of our environment!
To ensure you have a great experience, there are a few things we’d like you to know:
- You must be registered to attend this event register here
- We will begin at 4:30 PM. and end at 6:30 PM. Please be on time as there is a bit of a walk out to the wolf willow, it is easier to go as a group!
- Upon arrival check in with Meewasin’s Volunteer Coordinator Katie!
- This is an outdoor experience – Please dress for the weather and be prepared to work outdoors. Things like warm clothes, a hat, gloves and proper footwear will make your experience more enjoyable. We’ve got the safety gloves, and all the rest of the equipment we’ll need for the day. This event is weather dependent and please note this event may be moved to a later date.
- Bring a full reusable water bottle to carry with you, there is no potable water at this event and hydration is key , but please note there are no washrooms on-site at this location
Volunteer Requirements
Volunteers ages 8 and up, both new and experienced, are encouraged to attend, no skills set required. We will provide the equipment you’ll need and orientation, however if you have your own pruners, clippers or loppers from home that you want to bring along please do!
