About this event: Dr. Roy Vera-Velez, a distinguished grassland ecologist and partner of the Canadian Prairies Prescribed Fire Exchange (CPPFE), explains the importance of prescribed for healthy grasslands management. Dr. Vera-Velez has developed a pre- and post-fire monitoring program at Meewasin to measure the effects of different return intervals of prescribed fire has on the species richness and carbon sequestration ability of grasslands on Meewasin sites. The results from this data will be used to inform future management strategies of Meewasin site and for partners of the CPPF
